Developing a crisis management system for doctors and healthcare professionals


The Client

The largest national organisation of Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine in India.

The Task

India has witnessed a huge increase in the number of cases of violence against medical professionals. Many reports concern medical professionals being roughed up, even killed, by patients’ disgruntled relatives.
The Client wanted to develop a crisis management solution which could be used by their members in the event of an anticipated attack. The client wanted that the solution should help the doctors alert their peers in the nearby areas and also send SOS to the police authorities and the journalists covering the area. The requirement was to have multiple logins to the app- for doctors, Journalists and the central control room each having access based on a need-to-know basis.
The client approached Innovantes to develop mobile based technology platform for all platforms- iOS and Android which could help them achieve their goals.

The Challenge

The end users of the app were medical professionals, may of them who were not comfortable with technology. User experience had to be kept very simple.

The Solution

Hybrid Mobile Apps using Microsoft Xamarin- iOS and Android
Innovantes partnered with the client to introduce the new product with the desired features. The product adhered to high security and performance standards. It had multiple validations built in to avoid potential misuse and at the same time integrated with multiple channels such as the emergency room, Police Control Room etc.
In the event of an attack, the member could press the panic button the app, which would activate SOS notifications to all doctors in the nearby areas. Area Pin Codes were used to identify nearby areas where the members would receive notifications. Notifications would also be sent to the journalists in the area. The alert button also triggered a call to the Police Control Room.
The app also had features of capturing images, which were uploaded along with the incident details. The Journalists could use their login to view the complete incident details along with images.

  • Auto notifications on the basis of real time geo co-ordinates
  • Capturing of images and detailed write up
  • Detailed Analytics- Areas prone to maximum attacks basis the past data
  • Integration of SOS Calling to the Police Control Room
  • Transactional SMS and Email integration
